Angus House

This could very well become a steak series. This time round I had dinner at the Angus House at Ngee Ann City. This Japanese Western place has been around for ages and I did read some raving reviews before coming.

Their prices for ordinary steaks are not too expensive, averaging around $50 and up for a complete course of appetizer, soup, salad, mains, coffee/tea and dessert. I decided to try the Wagyu set, which was almost double the price, as I have never tried Wagyu before.

You are served a warm crusty bun and some butter. Nothing special here.

Scallop and prawn in uni sauce. The uni sauce was a little tangy and sharp, otherwise, nothing spectacular.

Carrot Soup. Again, nothing special here.

For mains, I took the Wagyu Tenderloin. It was tender, but not to the extent that would have amazed me. In terms of flavor, the butter and lime added some flavors, but overall, it was not particularly aromatic.

Dessert was chocolate mousse. I would have preferred a simple pure chocolate mousse, but this resembled more like a mousse cake to me.

Have I been spoilt by the amazing meal I had at Morton's just last week? But I still remember the taste of Hog's Breath, which will probably satisfy me more than this meal at a third of the price. In conclusion, I think this meal was over-rated and definitely not worth the price I paid.
